When the Christmas catalog for our family’s sponsor kids showed up in the mail, we could have guessed it would be our animal lover, Hudson, who would find it and want to know what this was all about. Life is constantly dropping beautiful teaching and learning moments in our laps.
For a family with a hobby farm, the idea of buying farm animals for less fortunate children around the world made immediate sense to our kids. Our kids don’t understand the depths of poverty on a global scale. They don’t understand the oppression and injustice that steals life and joy from so many in our world. Our kids do not know how to save the world. What they do understand is kids.
They understand how big and important a gift can be. They understand kindness and generosity. They now understand that they can buy a chicken or a goat for a child who needs it, a child they have never met, a child just like them. Inspired by these events, our family is partnering with World Vision to give back and make a difference in a very practical way this Christmas.
